Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the RecFlow Studio application and the recflow.studio website ("RecFlow"). By downloading or using RecFlow you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use RecFlow.
1. What RecFlow is
RecFlow Studio is a macOS application for recording, editing, exporting and live streaming screen recordings. It is currently distributed as a free beta. Beta software changes quickly and may contain bugs; features may be added, changed or removed at any time.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to use RecFlow or create an account.
3. Your recordings are yours
Everything you record with RecFlow belongs to you. We claim no ownership or licence over your recordings. They are created and stored locally on your Mac (in ~/Movies/RecFlow) and are never uploaded to us. You are responsible for what you record — make sure you have the right to record the content and the people on your screen and microphone, and comply with the laws that apply to you, including recording-consent and privacy laws.
4. Our software stays ours
RecFlow grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the application. The application, its name, logo and design remain our property. Don't copy, resell or redistribute it as your own, don't reverse-engineer it except where law expressly permits, and don't remove its notices.
5. Accounts
Some features use an optional account (Google or e-mail sign-in). The account exists to sync your licence status and export count across your own machines. Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at info@recflow.studio if you believe it has been compromised.
6. Pricing, billing and cancellation
- During the beta, everything is unlocked and free. We do not ask for card details during the beta.
- The first 100 users ("Founding 100") keep RecFlow free forever, including future updates, for as long as we offer the product. Founding status is tied to your account and is not transferable.
- For everyone after, RecFlow becomes a pay-what-you-want monthly subscription, starting at version 1.0. You choose the amount at sign-up, above a minimum.
- The minimum is US$5/month. Prices are set and charged in US dollars and are the same worldwide — we do not vary them by country.
- If your card is issued in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate and may add its own conversion fee. We don't control either.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the amount you chose, charged to your payment method, until you cancel. We will tell you the amount and the renewal date before you first pay.
- You can cancel at any time, from your account or by e-mailing info@recflow.studio. Cancelling stops future renewals; your subscription continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Reserving a price during the beta does not start billing and does not charge you. Billing begins only at version 1.0, and only after we tell you.
- We may change subscription prices, but not for a period you have already paid. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before a change affects you, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.
- Exports and recordings you have already created remain yours, and remain usable, whatever happens to your subscription.
7. Refunds
If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, you have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Outside that, if RecFlow doesn't work for you, e-mail info@recflow.studio within 14 days of a charge and we will refund that month's payment. Refunds apply to the most recent payment, not the whole history of a subscription.
8. Live streaming and other third-party services
If you use live streaming, your video is sent from your Mac directly to the provider you configure (for example YouTube). That provider's terms and privacy policy govern what happens there, we are not responsible for their service, and you are responsible for following their rules. Sign-in is provided through Google. The website shows advertising supplied by Google.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use RecFlow to break the law, to record people without required consent, to infringe others' rights, or to attempt to break, probe or overload our services. Don't use it to build a competing product from our code.
10. Beta software and your data
Beta software can lose data. Recording, encoding and exporting can fail for reasons outside our control, including a full disk, a disconnected drive, a revoked macOS permission or a crash. Keep your own copies of recordings that matter to you. We are not able to recover recordings, because we never have them.
11. Warranty disclaimer
RecFlow is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RecFlow Studio and its creators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for lost data, lost profits or business interruption, arising from your use of RecFlow. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Changing or ending the service
We may modify, suspend or discontinue RecFlow or any of its features. If we discontinue a paid service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and refund any period you have paid for but not received. You can stop using RecFlow at any time — your local recordings remain on your Mac. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new effective date, and where the change significantly affects you we will give notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use RecFlow after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the laws of the Canadian province in which we are established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that province have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing here removes the protection of the mandatory consumer laws that apply to you there.
16. General
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor of the RecFlow business. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about RecFlow.
